Dooley Fields

Dooley Fields were built in 1958 on the private property of Holy Spirit Parish School by Charles Schanz and Lawrence "Dooley" Bertolani.  Bertolani, a Sacramento firefighter, was involved in the creation and day-to-day maintenance of the baseball diamonds. For more than three decades, Dooley spent many days leaving his backyard gate to tend to the diamonds so that the children of our area can play at this special ballpark.  By all accounts, the fields were kept in pristine conditions during this time, often looking like "green velvet."

Originally, Dooley Fields were the home of Pacific Little League (est. 1954). Through the years, some of the area little leagues merged.  In 1994, Dooley Fields became the home fields Land Park Little League (est. 1958), and in 2000, Curtis Park Little League (est. 1950) merged into our league.
